How I Will Protect Pennsylvania

The state treasurer chooses how to invest and grow billions of dollars of our money. Keeping our state on a solid financial footing is essential to maintaining a good statewide credit score that allows us to make vital infrastructure investments. New roads, bridges, clean water, schools, and so much more all require capital funding to move Pennsylvania forward.Reviewing State Contracts: I will implement a state contracting process review to add protections from wage theft and work to increase opportunities for prevailing wages and investment in companies that invest in Pennsylvania.

I will protect our state’s assets and pensions from waste, fraud, abuse, and greedy money managers.

Protect State Assets and Our Pensions

529 College Savings Program: Pennsylvania parents deserve a top performing PA 529 College Savings Program that is easy to access and enroll. PA’s 529 plan is a tax-free savings account to pay for college, trade schools, and apprenticeship programs. My office will expand enrollment efforts to provide more informational outreach to parents in preschools, elementary schools, and doctors’ offices.PA Able: The PA Able program provides peace of mind to caregivers of people with disabilities. &nbsp;As Treasurer, I will connect with advocates, home care providers, and organizations like the ARC of Pennsylvania to encourage caregivers to make the most of the program.Low-Interest Loans: I am dedicated to protecting access to low-interest loans for our cities, towns, farmers, and non-profits. The state treasurer’s office manages loan programs that support and expand our number one industry, agriculture, as well as oversight of community development loan funds. &nbsp;

I will protect important programs like 529 college savings plans, PA Able and low-interest loans.

Protect Important Programs

Reuniting Over $4 billion in lost money with Pennsylvanians: My office will implement an automatic system for returning money that eliminates some bureaucratic barriers and reduces unneeded delays. Additionally, I am dedicated to expanding veteran services. I will reunite more military decorations with veterans or their next of kin, and eliminate hurdles for servicemembers who change states and leave assets behind.Increase Financial Literacy: I want to be a state treasurer who helps Pennsylvanians learn more about their own money and how to protect and grow it.&nbsp; I will provide new educational materials and opportunities to increase financial literacy for all those who wish to learn, from our student-aged Pennsylvanians to our retirees.&nbsp; A better, closer relationship with our finances begins with better understanding about how to utilize it, protect it, and even invest it.

I will have regional offices, increase financial literacy and return lost money to Pennsylvanian's.

Pennsylvania’s current approach is unimaginative and lacks aggressive leadership. It is slowed by half- measures and bureaucratic impediments that aren’t working. I will change it.
